Who You Are Matters

Well, here we go. Where I come from has a few answers. I was born in my home country of Armenia, and immigrated to America at a very young age. We moved around the country for a couple years until we settled in New Jersey. I really couldn’t tell anyone where I’m going since that’s something I’m still figuring out. I have a few a directions I’m looking at but nothing conclusive. I have a contract with the Army since I’m in ROTC, but I plan on going reserves. I couldn’t even tell you where I’d want to live, but I guess I’ll let my future job determine that for me. I have pretty varying careers I’m interested in, including law enforcement and a healthcare professional. More to come on that in the future (hopefully). Since I’m not even sure where I’m heading currently, it wouldn’t be easy to say how I’m getting there. On a general note, I’m keeping my options open and my wits about me.

They say you realize how much you’re like your parents the older you get, and I could see some truth to that. Aside from inheriting my wits from my dad, I notice I have a lot of the same tendencies and mannerisms as him. We both do similar things with our hands and bodies when we are thinking, and we both have a love of history, science, and engineering. I probably got my love of healthcare and compassion from my mom, so I got the best of both worlds. On the opposite side, I’m much more “wild” than both of my parents. I’m also much less conservative than my parents (interpret that however you want). And I definitely attract trouble really easily, which is pretty different than them, or so they like to say.

I have many expectations for myself, but whether I hit them is another story since I like to set them pretty high. As for if I think I operate under someone else’s expectations? I’d say that it’s near impossible to operate completely of one’s own free will and expectations since essentially no one has original ideas that haven’t been normalized in society previously. I also don’t have a model that I look up to in particular since I like to always keep options open and look to different places/people for different ideas. If I had to pick a wild animal I feel a special connection with, it would easily be wolves.  Wolves show intelligence, incredible ability to work in groups and survive together. I love the pack mentality in terms of supreme loyalty. Wolves also display very strong aggression and keenness when needed. As for nature, I’m not much of a nature guy. My most significant childhood encounters with trees or plants would probably have to be climbing trees, but that’s more of a activity type of thing than a fondness for nature.
