My Life On the Road 1

I have to say, Gloria Steinem's upbringing was nothing but unusual. In fact, I'd call it pretty dysfunctional, but it's clear that she turned out just fine based on her success. I know that we all like to travel, but she takes this to a whole other level. She was basically a nomad growing up and her father's lifestyle is something I've never heard of. I'm not even sure how he was able to survive just by visiting antique stores and buying and reselling random items. I actually feel bad that Gloria Steinem had to grow up learning to read from road signs and never having a stable home or parent dynamic.

Before reading this book, I had heard of Gloria Steinem's name before and knew it was associated with heavy feminism. I probably had a pretty skewed view coming into this book, but I do have some newfound respect for her ability to grow and become successful after such a strange childhood. I also thought that this book would be more about traveling to a variety of places across the world but it appears most of her experiences outside of the U.S. involved extensive travels across India. That makes sense though, and it would've really been interesting if she got to meet Gandhi but mentioned that she went there more than 10 years after he was murdered. It's

So far this book isn't what I expected, but I'll continue to read it with an open mind.
